About "Dead Flowers"
From the original Rolling Stones Album "Sticky Fingers" (23 April 1971)
Recording "Dead Flowers" began on December 15, 1969 at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama during their winter tour of America. It is one of the few songs on the album to feature each member of the Rolling Stones playing their respective instruments, plus pianist Ian Stewart.
The lyrics to the song are notably dark, and feature the line, "I'll be in my basement room, with a needle and a spoon." A reference to injecting heroin.
A live cut from their 1994 Voodoo Lounge Tour can be found on the 1995 live album Stripped. The Stones performed the song on September 29, 2006 during their A Bigger Bang Tour at Louisville's famed Churchill Downs, in reference to a line from the song. [From Wikipedia]
